Holiday Glow-Up: Beauty Secrets for Women Over 40

Holiday Glow-Up: Beauty Secrets for Women Over 40

Posted by Jentri Quinn on Nov 24th 2024

Hey Beautiful!

The holidays are here!

Between shopping, cooking, family gatherings, and trying to squeeze in a little “me time,” it’s easy to let your skincare routine slide to the bottom of the list.

But this is when your skin actually needs some extra TLC, especially after 40, when it takes a bit more attention to stay healthy and hydrated.

The good news? Great skincare doesn’t have to be complicated—or expensive.

Here’s a holiday recap of what’s best for your skin, plus simple tips and beauty hacks to keep your glow going all season long.

If you only have time for a few things in your skincare routine, make them count:

  1. Cleanse: Removing makeup before bed is a non-negotiable. It prevents breakouts and lessens the chance for your pores to become more stretched out from bad skin habits! Here's one of my favorite, inexpensive cleansers for sensitive skin.
  2. Moisturize: We lose oil as we age, so a good moisturizer helps keep your skin hydrated, plump, and youthful-looking. Look for one, like our Whipped Face Butter, that contains humectants and luxurious oils so your moisture stays locked in! This also helps prevent water loss (aka TEWL).
  3. Eye Care: You eyes are the first place to show signs of aging, so make your skincare steps count with pointed eye care products to help tackle your biggest concerns, such as dark circles, wrinkles, puffiness, and crow’s feet.

Bonus Tip!

Even in the winter, the sun's rays can damage your skin. So, don't forget to wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, especially if you're spending time outdoors. Here's one of my faves!

Free and Easy Skincare Tips

  • Drink Water: Staying hydrated is essential for healthy skin. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day. If this sounds boring, try adding in some flavored electrolytes or fruit to your water!
  • Get Enough Sleep: When you're well-rested, your skin looks its best. Sadly, this is not the reality for many of us, especially during years when hormones are fluctuating so much!  If you’re going through a tough sleep season like me, try leaning on some sleep rituals to help you out, such as sleep music, guided sleep meditation and calming supplements. Here's a link to one of my favorite tracks on Youtube
  • Manage Stress: Stress can wreak havoc on your skin, but sadly, it'll always be part of life. So finding healthy ways to manage stress, such as yoga, meditation, or spending time in nature can be invaluable. My favorite thing to do is to walk - it’s easy, free and helps get your blood circulating for overall better health (and skin)!
  • Eat a Healthy Diet: Diets are personal and individual, so pay attention to how you feel when you eat or drink something. If it makes you feel bad, do less of it. And instead of trying to make big changes all at once, just try adding one good thing into your diet and go from there. Sidetone: fasting has been a game changer for me. If interested in trying it out for yourself, check out one of my favorite books, “Fast Like A Girl”.

Holiday Skin Hacks

  • Quick Facial Massage: A quick facial massage can help improve circulation, reduce the appearance of dark circles and reduce puffiness. Use your fingertips to gently massage your face in circular motions. I have tons of videos with facial massage tips on my TT & Youtube channel for you. What I love about facial massage is that it’s easy, free and you can do it from the comfort of your own bed!
  • Hydrating Sheet Masks: Sheet masks are a great way to give your skin an instant boost of hydration, plus they’re a lot of fun to do with your friends/family during the holidays!
  • DIY Body Scrub: Mix 1 part coconut oil to 2 parts sugar. Add in your favorite essential oil and have fun exfoliating the dead skin away for a smoother and softer texture!

Don’t worry, if DIY isn’t your thing (I don’t have a lot of time for this myself!), we offer our natural and organic body care here to keep your skin smelling delicious and feeling happy all year long!

As a bonus, you'll love to know that it's infused with EVOO from our family farm in Italy!

Remember, taking care of your skin doesn't have to be complicated or expensive. By following these simple tips, you can keep your skin looking radiant and youthful all year round.

The more you know the more you glow!

Wishing you a warm, safe and prosperous holiday season with loved ones (yes, animals count!).

xoxo
