• Rubbing/pulling around eyes or lashes
Body
Do

Don’t
• Hot water, saunas, tanning beds
• Loofahs, rough towels, or scratching
• Tight belts/elastics on tender areas
Hands & Feet
Do

• Keep nails short; use gentle cuticle oil
Don’t
• Cut cuticles or remove callouses
• Acrylic/gel nails or harsh removers
• Extreme heat/sun exposure
Quick Tips for Common Issues
Irritated hands & feet
• Thick, fragrance-free cream/ointment after every wash
• Cotton gloves/socks overnight
• Avoid hot water and detergents without gloves
Itchy scalp
• Gentle, fragrance-free shampoo (avoid alcohol/sulfates)
• Lukewarm water, light massage (no scratching)
• Aloe gel or a lightweight soothing scalp serum as needed
Breakouts on sensitive skin
• Mild pH-balanced cleanser 2×/day
• Spot-treat with non-drying options like niacinamide
• Skip acne actives during flares
Sensitive overall
• Avoid extreme temperatures
• Minimal-ingredient products
• Moisturize within 60 seconds of bathing
Scars (once skin is healed)
• Keep moisturized for elasticity
• Consider silicone gels/sheets
• Daily UV protection to prevent darkening
Thinning brows & shedding lashes
• No rubbing
• Gentle, conditioning serums (ophthalmologist-tested)
• Fragrance-free oil cleanser to remove makeup with light pressure
Shedding hair
• Soft, wide-tooth comb
• If shaving, leave ~¼ inch to reduce ingrowns/infection risk
• Soft caps or scarves for comfort and protection
Radiation-treated areas
• Follow your oncology team’s instructions first
• Avoid occlusive dressings unless advised
• Only use ultra-gentle balms (e.g., aloe, calendula) if approved by your provider
Dry skin (general and treatment-related)
• Moisturize within 60 seconds after bathing or washing
• Layer thin → thick: serum → cream → optional oil
• Consider a humidifier in dry climates
Glow Note
Healing isn’t linear. If yesterday felt great and today feels tender, that’s still progress. Meet your skin where it is—kindness first, then consistency.
Medical & Safety Notes
