This Changed My Skin (And It’s Not What You Think!)

Hey Beautiful!

When we think about skincare, most of us picture an elaborate lineup of serums, creams, and maybe a fancy face mask (if we have time). And while products do play a role, I’ve learned that true, lasting skin health isn’t just about what we put onour skin—it’s about what we do for our bodies.

As someone who runs a small business, I don’t have the luxury of endless free time. And recently, after being sick, my body felt completely depleted—my skin looked dull from neglecting my normal skincare routine, my energy was gone, and I felt like I had aged overnight. Trying to get back on track, I knew I needed more than just a good moisturizer; I needed a system that actually worked for my life.

That’s when I doubled down on stacking—a method that has completely changed the way I approach my wellness and beauty routine.

What is Stacking?

Stacking is the simple (but powerful) idea of combining habits so you can get more done in less time. And when it comes to skincare and wellness, stacking can be a game-changer—especially for women over 40 who are juggling a million things at once.

Instead of trying to carve out extra time for self-care, I started blending my beauty and wellness practices together. The results? My skin looks better, I feel more energized, and I don’t feel like I’m constantly playing catch-up.

How I Use Stacking for My Skin & Health

Here are a few ways I’ve made stacking work in my routine:

  1. Fasting + Hydration Boost
When I started intermittent fasting, I noticed my skin looked clearer and less inflamed. But I took it a step further—stacking fasting with high-quality hydration. To extend my fasting time, I make sure to drink mineral-rich water, add MCT to my coffee, or add sugar free electrolytes to support my skin while giving my gut a break. It’s a simple shift, but it makes a huge difference.

  2. Morning Coffee + Face Massage
I used to rush through my morning coffee, but now, while I sip, I use a gua sha or my fingers to massage my face. This helps with circulation, lymphatic drainage, and de-puffing—all while I enjoy my caffeine fix. Make sure to apply your hydrating serum first, so that you don't pull or tug at your skin. A two-minute ritual that sets the tone for the day and my skin!

  3. Shower + Deep Treatment
Instead of waiting for “spa days” that never happen, I apply a deep conditioner and a hydrating face mask before I shower. The steam helps everything absorb better, and by the time I’m done, my skin and hair feel rejuvenated without taking up extra time.

  4. Walking + Mental Clarity
I used to think I had to separate my workout from my mindfulness time. Now, I stack a brisk walk with listening to a podcast or practicing deep breathing. Moving my body clears my skin by increasing circulation, and stacking it with a mindfulness practice keeps stress (and those stress-induced breakouts) in check.

  5. Evening Skincare + Gratitude Practice
Instead of scrolling through my phone at night, I use my evening skincare routine as a time to reflect on the day. While applying my night cream, I think of three things I’m grateful for. It sounds small, but gratitude lowers stress, which helps prevent dull, tired-looking skin.

Why Stacking Works So Well

When life gets busy (and it always does), it’s easy to let self-care slip through the cracks. But by stacking habits, you make it effortless. You don’t have to find more time—you just use your existing time better.

And let’s be real—women over 40 don’t have time for complicated routines. We need smart, effective solutions that fit into real life. Stacking helps you take care of your skin and yourself without the overwhelm.

So if you’re struggling to keep up with your beauty routine, try stacking. It’s the easiest way to maximize your skincare, your health, and your time—all at once.

Have you tried stacking your beauty or wellness habits? Let me know what’s worked for you!

I hope this was helpful!

Remember, the more you know the more you glow!
