10 Anti-aging Tips To Care For Your Eyelids After 40
Posted by JQ on Jul 29th 2023
Hey Beautiful,
Caring for your eyelid area becomes increasingly important as you age, as the skin in this area tends to become thinner, more delicate, and prone to various signs of aging.
But it doesn't need to be complicated. And you don't need 10 products.
You do need the right skincare routine, however, to nurture and restore your mature skin as it ages, and that's what I'll share with you today.
Here are 10 skincare tips on how to care for your eyelid area after the age of 40:
1) Gentle Cleansing: Use a mild, non-irritating cleanser to cleanse your eyelid area. Avoid using harsh soaps or cleansers that can strip away natural oils and cause dryness. Gently pat the area dry with a soft towel.
2) The Right Moisturizer: Invest in a good eye cream or a moisturizer specifically formulated for mature skin. Look for skincare products that contain ingredients like aloe, hyaluronic acid, peptides or ceramides, as they can help you improve hydration that you lose with age.
3) Sun Protection: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to your entire face, including the eyelid area. Always apply a non-oily sunscreen above your eyelid fold area so that when it heats up and spreads it doesn't get into your eyes. Protecting your skin from harmful UV rays can prevent premature aging and reduce the risk of skin cancer. Consider wearing sunglasses with UV protection to shield your eyes and eyelids from direct sunlight.

4) Targeted Eye Products: Consider using an eye serum or cream to target specific concerns like wrinkles, dark circles, or puffiness. Look for formulations that contain ingredients like vitamin C, vitamin E, niacinamide, caffeine, or peptides, as they can help address these issues.
5) Harsh Products: Be cautious when using skincare products near your eyelids. Avoid using products that contain strong ingredients like alcohol, fragrances, or essential oils, as they can cause irritation and dryness in this sensitive area.
6) Makeup Removal: When removing eye makeup, use a gentle eye makeup remover that is specifically designed for the delicate eye area. Avoid rubbing or tugging at your eyelids, as this can lead to skin damage and increased sagging. For a step by step guide on how to remove your eye makeup the right way, go here.
7) Hydrating Masks: Occasionally treat your eye area with hydrating masks or patches specifically designed for the eyes. These products can provide intense hydration, reduce puffiness, and minimize the appearance of fine lines. For a deeper eye area treatment, we recommend our Eye Dream of Sleep eye mask.
8) Hydration and Nutrition: Remember that skincare is not just about external products. Drink plenty of water and maintain a healthy, balanced diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals to support overall skin health.
9) Beauty Sleep: Adequate sleep is crucial for maintaining the health and appearance of your eyelid area. Lack of sleep can lead to puffiness, dark circles, and a tired appearance. Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night.

10) Consult a Professional: If you have specific concerns, have been unsuccessful with the products you've used for a long time or if you're unsure about which products to use, it's always a good idea to consult a dermatologist or your licensed esthetician. They can personally assess your skin condition and recommend personalized skincare products or treatments to serve you the best.
