5 Tips to Restore Your Crepey Skin & Eyes

Have you heard Marie Forleo's quote, "simplify to amplify"?
I want you to think about this when you think about skincare, too.
It's not always about the amount of products you're using or the percentage of them, but rather the pointedness in which you use them with the understanding that you can't benefit from something you can't tolerate.
Did you know that 20% of what you do consistently yields 80% of your results?
Pretty cool, huh? I didn't make that up myself.
Now that we understand we don't have to exhaust ourselves with our routine, we just have to be consistent with a few things to get results - let's dive in!
The following tips can apply if your skin is dry, crepey and/or sensitive skin.
These tips also help if you suffer from irritating skin conditions with flareups, and skin diseases like Rosacea or Acne.
Best of all, these tips all apply to that area we're most concerned about, too -- our EYES.
Most of the time, water loss creates an environment for a myriad of unwanted skin conditions because moisture is so important when it comes to upholding the integrity of your skin.
This is why we focus so much on moisture and hydration, especially after 40!
So let's get down to business - here are my top 5 easy tips to restore your skin.
1) Start with a gentle, balancing cleanser with a pH of around 4.7-5.5. If you're in need
of one, you can't go wrong with our Restorative Rose Cleansing gel.
As a rule of thumb, stay away from foaming cleansers. While they've made a lot of advancements,
if you're not familiar with the brand and their practices, you may find this easier to look for.
2) On clean skin, apply an alcohol-free toner for a big dose of extra hydration!
Even better, look for a mist that has anti-inflammatory ingredients or humectants to double down on your anti-inflammatory and moisture benefits!
3) Apply a Hyaluronic based serum, like our Vitamin C + Correcting Serum on moist skin, then apply our Whipped Olive Oil Face Butter if you have dry, dehydrated and/or crepey skin to help lock your moisture in.
You may also appreciate that our Whipped Olive Oil Face Oil was created to be used on your eyes, face and neck!!
Remember, I always say that you can't lock in moisture you don't have! That's why using Hyaluronic acid by itself without applying a good moisturizer afterward or why using oils alone isn't as effective.
By using a Hyaluronic based serum, you're once again doubling down on your daily benefits and in this case with Vitamin C, which helps to neutralize free radical damage and works as a supporting agent when it comes to improving collagen production. Coupled with Hyaluronic Acid to bring moisture up to the cells of your skin, you're also working on plumping your skin and decreasing the appearance of wrinkles during the day.
That's right, you can still fight wrinkles at the same time you're restoring your skin!
4) Use a non-comedogenic facial oil, like our Glow Oil if you have dry skin but avoid oils if you're acne-prone because this can increase your risk of breakouts.
My favorite way to apply facial oil is to press it over my moisturizer as the last step in my skincare routine because oils are occlusive agents that will help us lock moisture in.
I recommend skipping oil or using it before your moisturizer on the days you wear SPF so that it doesn't interfere with your sunscreen protection.
5) Use cold compresses to decrease inflammation. You can put a spoon in the fridge, free tea bags, make aloe ice cubes (thanks for the tip, Sherry!) and use products with calming agents or masks, such as aloe, colloidal silver and lavender.
In example, we keep our Immortality Aloe Mask in the fridge and use it on stressed, irritated skin.
Additionally, using a Soothing Eye Balm throughout the day can provide a world of comfort when locking in moisture around your delicate thin tissue and providing you some relief from irritation.
If your eye area is your main focus of interest during the day, our Eye Dream of Coffee works by constricting blood vessels, which helps you with your dark circles and puffiness.
At night, our Restorative PM Eye Cream is designed to assist you with keeping your skin hydrated to fight against crow's feet, wrinkles and puffiness - while you sleep.
Last but not least, if your skin is feeling dry after you apply your foundation, mix a small amount if your moisturizer into it to create a more moisturizing application.
Remember, the more you know the more you glow!
With love & appreciation,
