Anti-aging for Sensitive, Crepey Skin

Anti-aging for Sensitive, Crepey Skin

Hi Beautiful!

By now you probably already know that I help woman over 40 restore their skin.

Part of restoring the skin means knowing what "sensitive" means. It's like "natural makeup" - if you ask ten people what that means to them it'll all be different.

Sensitive skin can happen through lifestyle, medications, diseases, such as Rosacea, or using products that are too harsh for your skin.

My job is to be a detective, ask the right questions and help you come up with a plan that'll be gentle, yet effective, when it comes to your anti-aging needs and rehabilitating your barrier.

A common misnomer about sensitive skin is that if you're sensitive you can't use any acids or exfoliating products.

In almost all treatments, however, I use some sort of exfoliant to help my clients with their skincare goals, whether it be an exfoliating wash with grape seed or papaya enzyme treatment.

Bottom line is, you also have to be mindful that other things are exfoliating too, such as dermaplaning, facial waxing and cleansers, so if you're not thoughtful you can unintentionally over-exfoliate your skin.

Regardless of what has caused your sensitive skin, the barrier has been compromised and my goal is to help you rebuild it.

There are a few general ingredients that tend to work better on sensitive skin when it comes to helping you achieve your anti-aging goals.

Beta Acids: BHA's typically work better than AHA's when it comes to sensitive skin because they have a larger molecular size and usually won't cause the same possible irritation that AHA's can. Good news is, you'll still get that great exfoliation you're looking for -- and as a bonus, they're wonderful for acne-prone skin and the appearance of large pores.

Mandelic Acid: This powerhouse antioxidant is derived from almonds, helps desensitize skin and increases oxygen while encouraging cell turnover - a perfect win for sensitive skin!

Pro tip! If you do exfoliate with an AHA, choose Lactic Acid because it has a wonderful unique ability to be hydrating as well as an excellent exfoliator at the same time.

Flower Acids/Extracts: There are a myriad of flower extracts, like Chamomile, that have wonderful anti-inflammatory and calming effects on the skin, while also offering antibacterial benefits. Its ability to neutralize irritants makes it ideal for sensitive skin.

That's why we've chosen these types of ingredients in our Brighten and Reveal Pads, designed to gently exfoliate your skin and help you stimulate collagen for anti-aging benefits.

With regular use, these types of acids have the ability to lighten and brighten your skin, even your skin tone, lighten hyperpigmentation, firm skin, and control breakouts.

Anytime you exfoliate your skin, be sure to push moisture back into it with humectants and nourishing butters - our Whipped Olive Oil Face Butter is an excellent choice for dry, sensitive, crepey skin to help you restore your skin while preventing water loss.

Regardless of your skincare needs, rest with the knowledge that all of our products here at JQ are created for women with sensitive, mature skin in mind.
